Faculty Appointments

To obtain a faculty appointment from one of the Ontario medical universities, please submit your application and CV to ROMP.

ROMP teaching appointments are made through any Ontario medical school and are approved for physicians who teach 150 hours with ROMP over three years. Part-time faculty  appointments require CCFP or Royal College certification or the equivalent.

Normshowsoffhisnewduds2006_000All medical schools require that any ROMP preceptors who wish to teach residents must have a university affiliation (faculty appointment) in order to do so.   Undergraduate teaching does not necessarily require a faculty appointment; however, some schools do require preceptors who are teaching core rotations be affiliated with a university.

Obtaining a Faculty Appointment

Applications for teaching appointments are obtained from the ROMP office. All preceptors are encouraged to participate in the ongoing improvement and development of the program. Preceptors who are eligable for faculty appointments can obtain one from the school of their choosing.  The process for obtaining faculty appointments varies by school.

When a preceptor supervises a student, he/she is not credited with every hour that the student is on site, rather they are credited for outpatient supervision in half day blocks.
