ABOUT MILTON
Milton began as a small mill town. Today, the original gristmill is gone, but the mill pond is still the centre of the community. It is now Canada’s fastest growing community and is considered a place of opportunity for familiar and businesses.
Milton’s once agricultural based economy has expanded to a diverse industrial and commercial one because of its proximity to several major highways. Industries that operate in Milton include Gordon Food Service, Northstar Aerospace and Magna International.
HIGHLIGHTS
The Niagara Escarpment surrounds Milton before continuing to Niagara Falls. The escarpment provides miles of land for hiking in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter.
Heritage Park is 80 acres with 30 buildings and over 20,000 artifacts that portray the progression of agriculture and rural life for the past 170 years
HEALTHCARE
Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) is a progressive, multi-site healthcare organization that employs more than 2900 staff and over 300 physicians.
HHS is currently in the planning stages of expanding the Milton District Hospital, with construction anticipated to start in 2015. The expansion will more than triple the size of the facility, with new space for the maternal and newborn program, surgical services and a new emergency department. The new enhanced facility will provide Milton residents with improved access to the care they need closer to home.
