The Town of Uxbridge is situated in a beautiful valley on the northern slope of the Oak Ridges Moraine, about 64 km northeast of Toronto, Ontario and includes the hamlets of Zephyr, Sandford, Udora, Leaskdale, Sandy Hook, Siloam, Goodwood, Coppins Corners, Glen Major, Glasgow and Altona. Uxbridge has much to offer by way of recreation, entertainment, heritage and culture, a thriving arts community and beautiful surrounding landscapes.

Uxbridge has abundant opportunities for recreational activities such as hiking and snowshoeing trails, cross-country and downhill ski resorts, golf courses, a public swimming pool, a tennis court and a community center and arena with two full-size ice pads. Museums and multiple art galleries proudly display Uxbridge’s rich culture and heritage.

Known as the Trail Capital of Canada, hikers, cyclists, equestrians, skiers and lovers-of-nature enjoy over 300 kilometers of managed trails on over 8,000 acres of breathtaking, protected green space.

Celebrating their 21st season, the Uxbridge Farmer’s Market is an enjoyable Sunday Destination for the whole family. The lively market atmosphere is complete with Uxbridge’s finest farmers, prepared food vendors, artisans and musicians.

The heart of Uxbridge is its quaint downtown. From fine-dining restaurants to casual pubs, inviting coffee shops, breweries and mouth-watering bakeries – the culinary choice is yours. Downtown is also home to a charming movie theatre and delightful boutiques offering clothing, gifts, jewelry, furniture and other hand-crafted treasures.

How about an old-fashioned train ride through the Uxbridge-Stouffville corridor on the unique open-doors baggage car with The York-Durham Heritage Railway? Another popular historical destination is the Leaskdale Manse where Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of the famous Canadian novel, Anne of Green Gables, lived and wrote close to a dozen books.

Uxbridge Hospital is part of Oak Valley Health that also includes Markham Stouffville Hospital and the Reactivation Care Centre.  Currently the Uxbridge site has a single coverage ER that sees around forty patients per day and includes a twenty-bed inpatient unit.  There are two family physician organizations in town with a total of thirteen family doctors who do comprehensive care, including after hours care, palliative care, home visits and many of whom also work at the hospital, both on the ward and in the ER.  Those clinics include Uxbridge Health Centre and Toronto Street Medical Centre.
